The Oath

It was a beautiful day in the city of Eugene
I was laying on the lawn just smoking some green
The sky was blue and the air was breezy
And me and my homies were just taken it easy
It seems like that’s all we ever do these days
Maybe we’ll grow out of it, maybe it’s a phase
Sleep in every morning, smoke and drink day and night
We’re killing lots of brain cells but it feels alright
So I’m laying on the grass, just bathing in the sun
Not doing much at all, having a little bit of fun
Everything is good, but I feel like something’s lacking
Life seems empty, I want to get something cracking
I’m politically aware but I’m sitting on my ass
I need to get involved, stop smoking so much grass
The world’s fucked up and I won’t let it be
So if you want to change things repeat after me

I will stand up, stay left, speak truth, be proud
Never shut up, I’m gonna shout out loud
Be a critical thinker, not a sheep in the crowd
Til death I will never break this oath that I vowed

Lets all get together and start a revolution
The new generation needs a new constitution
So question society, question the media
Question the bullshit that politicians feed to you
Break out of the system get your brain rewired
Get empowered, educated, intrigued, and inspired
Oil will be gone by the time of my retirement
So lets create a world with a sustainable environment
Gender and racial equality is a must
I want to live on a planet that is socially just
Free of hate, greed, and fear, and instilled with trust
Full of so much love its about to bust
This is the kind of world that I want to build
The entire population being spiritually fulfilled
Some want peace, some progression, I want them both
And everyone whose with me just repeat the oath
